The seventh season of the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series[7] is a revival run of twelve new episodes that will air on Disney+, the forthcoming streaming service. The revival was announced by the show's supervising director, Dave Filoni, on July 19, 2018 at San Diego Comic-Con, during a panel commemorating the show’s tenth anniversary. The episodes will be a continuation of the series after it was cancelled in 2013, and will include the Siege of Mandalore. Series stars Matt Lanter, Ashley Eckstein, James Arnold Taylor, Dee Bradley Baker, Tom Kane and more have all returned to lend their voices to the series.
DevelopmentEdit
Star Wars: The Clone Wars ran from October 3, 2008[8] until its final regular broadcast episode on March 2, 2013,[9] following the show’s cancellation at the end of its fifth season.[10] A half-length season was available on Netflix on March 7, 2014,[11] and some story arcs were released in several different mediums in the following years.[12] The show was succeeded by Star Wars Rebels,[13] which continued the story of Clone Wars era characters like Ahsoka Tano and Clone CaptainRex,[14] but fans continued asking for more episodes of The Clone Wars.[15] A popular hashtag for the campaign was #SaveTheCloneWars.[16]
A continuation of the original series on Disney+, the forthcoming streaming service, was announced at San Diego Comic Con on July 19, 2018, during a panel commemorating the show's 10th anniversary. The announcement came with a trailer for the new season and a poster that contained the hashtag #CloneWarsSaved, referencing the fan campaign.[3] A StarWars.com interview with Dave Filoni, the show's supervising director, confirmed that the new season would contain 12 new episodes.[1] One of the story arcs in the new season will be the Siege of Mandalore, with some scenes about it contained in the trailer.[3] The arc was originally intended as the show's series finale,[17] which takes place before and during the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, including Order 66.[18] The arc has been referenced in Star Wars Rebels[19] and partly adapted in the young-adult novel Ahsoka.[18] The author E. K. Johnston later revealed that she was asked not to write action scenes for the Siege of Mandalore in the book, as unbeknownst to her Lucasfilm was working on the final season.[20]
Matt Lanter, Ashley Eckstein, James Arnold Taylor and Dee Bradley Baker were confirmed to be reprising their respective roles as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi and CaptainRex by the revival trailer.[3] In August 2018, Tom Kane confirmed on his Facebook account that he had recorded lines for five new episodes of the revival, though he did not confirm if he will be reprising his roles as the Narrator, Yoda or Wullf Yularen.[4] As of November 5, 2018, recording is still underway according to Eckstein.[21]Sam Witwer and Ray Park were later confirmed to be reprising the role of Darth Maul, with the former providing the voice and the latter performing motion capture. During production, several of the models, including that of Captain Rex, were tweaked and improved upon based on new animation technology.[5]Star Wars Insider 190 later revealed that as of June 12, 2019, production of the episodes is still ongoing.[22]
ReleaseEdit
The Clone Wars revival was the subject of a panel at 2019's Celebration Chicago, which took place on April 14.[23] During the panel, behind-the-scenes images and a trailer were shown. The trailer, besides showing more footage of the Siege of Mandalore, also confirmed that the revival would include a finished version of the 'Bad Batch' arc, initially released as an unfinished story reel, with completed animation.[5]

Thorn was a clone trooper commander who served the Galactic Republic in the Grand Army of the Republic's Coruscant Guard during the Clone Wars. He carried a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon that he called Hammer.
BiographyEditWhat is it, Commander Thorn?' —Padmé Amidala is warned by Thorn, only moments prior to the Separatist invasion of Scipio
In 20 BBY, Thorn led a detachment to escort SenatorPadmé Amidala on Scipio. Shortly after Rush Clovis became the head of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, Thorn and his troopers detected Separatist fighters closing in on the landing platform they were situated in. Thorn ordered the troops and gunships around them to get off the landing platform and regroup beyond the city gates. He then warned Amidala of the incoming Separatist invasion.
The droid fighters shot the gunships and Consular-class cruiser down, leaving the shock troopers with no reinforcements. As Thorn rushed toward the entrance of the neutral zone, Droid gunships then entered the firefight and blocked Thorn's path in the front and the landing pad behind him, cutting down his troopers and deploying commando and super battle droids. After all his men were killed, Thorn kept fighting, using the Hammer as a melee and long range weapon. However, he was greatly outnumbered, and was shot multiple times in the chest until he was finally killed by a commando droid.
EquipmentEdit
Thorn sported the Coruscant Guard's red colors with wing designs on his helmet. He also acquired a kama and visor. Thorn utilized a DC-15S blaster, but he favored his minigun, Hammer.

Unbeknownst to most of the galaxy, Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas ordered the creation of an army of clones for the Galactic Republic on Kamino. A decade later, the army would come to light, and Yoda deemed them worthy of aiding the Republic against the Separatist threat in what would become known as the Clone Wars. While the Jedi would command the clone troopers, the Grand Army of the Republic had ranks of its own. Let’s meet the captains and commanders that lead their troops into battle!

With Star Wars: The Clone Wars over, it might take us a while to encounter new clone commanders in the Star Wars universe. But we still have Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor in Star Wars Rebels. And who knows what might follow? Until then, “vode an”!
